About our studio: White Squirrel Clayworks was founded in 2018. We strive to produce high quality ceramic wares for gifts and the home. We are a business comprised of wholesale and retail consumers nationwide. Our production studio is located in Oberlin, OH. 

Glazing Studio Assistant

Job Status: Part-time. 20-30 hours a week.

Hourly Rate: $14-$16 per hour. 

Requirements: This position requires a highly organized individual with attention to detail. You will be responsible for sanding, glazing and waxing all items made at the studio. You will be responsible for producing high quality work within a timely fashion. And you must work well with other team members in a production setting to meet deadlines. 

You must be able to stand while working for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.

You must be professional, responsible, show up on time, work well when left solo or when working with the team. You must have reliable transportation to get to work and proof of US citizenship.

Hours are during the mornings and/or afternoons Monday-Friday. Flexible if needed.

Description: The studio assistant is responsible for sanding, glazing and waxing of all items made at the studio. This position replenishes glaze by the mixing of dry glazes for dipping. Moderate cleaning of studio is required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Potter / Studio Assistant

Job Status: Part-time. 20 - 30 hours a week.

Hourly Rate: $15-$17 per hour. 

Requirements: Some experience in ceramics is required, including the ability to work with different stages of clay, trim / attach handles, and wheel throw a minimum of 6 pots per hour that are consistent in weight, size and shape. You will need to be proficient in replicating our product lines accurately and efficiently. Portfolio or pictures demonstrating your ceramic ability is required for consideration.

You must be able to lift up to 50lbs.

You must be professional, responsible, show up on time, work well when left solo or when working with the team. You must have reliable transportation to get to work and proof of US citizenship. 

Description: The potter will work independently to create wheel thrown items for our wholesale and retail consumers. We work hard at our studio to bring customers only the best quality. This includes mugs, bowls, pitchers, planters and other products. You will help recycle clay, wedge, wheel-throw, trim greenware, attach handles, sand, and glaze. Moderate cleaning of studio is required. This position will require 30 days of training and has the possibility of extra hours during the holiday season for the right candidate.

Studio Team Leader

Job Status: Full-time. 30-35 hours a week.

Hourly Rate: $16-$18 per hour. 

Requirements: Some experience in ceramics is required. This individual is in  charge of guiding, monitoring and leading an entire group. Strong communication, team-building and motivational skills are required. You will be responsible to teach, train and develop other team members.

You must be able to stand while working for extended periods of time and lift up to 50lbs.

You must be professional, responsible and show up on time. You must have reliable transportation to get to work and proof of US citizenship.

Hours are Monday-Friday. Flexible if needed.

Description: The studio team leader is responsible for motivating their teammates as well as inspiring positive communication within them so that they can work together toward achieving goals. This person is responsible for the training of all new hires and continued development of the team. You must be willing to work as part of the production team as needed, ie) wedging clay, hand-building, sanding, glazing, loading kilns and overall studio maintenance. We are willing to train the right candidate.
